About WebP and JPG
WebP was created by Google in 2010 as a smaller, more efficient web image format — but 15 years later, many apps outside the browser still can't open it. Downloaded a WebP from a Chrome right-click and found Photoshop, Preview or your job portal rejecting it? Converting to JPG makes it universally supported. Our converter decodes WebP in your browser (every modern browser has a built-in WebP decoder) and re-encodes as a quality-92 JPG. Nothing is uploaded. The output JPG will be slightly larger than the WebP source — this is the price of universal compatibility — but visually indistinguishable from the original.

The questions
Frequently asked
Why is this image a WebP in the first place?
WebP is Google's web-optimised format. Chrome often saves images as WebP by default, even if the original was JPG or PNG.
Will the file get bigger?
Usually yes — often 2-4× larger. WebP uses much more efficient compression than JPG, so a 100 KB WebP typically becomes a 200-400 KB JPG at default (92%) quality. Lower the Quality slider in Options to shrink the output: 75% is still great for web; 60% is good for messaging apps.
Will quality drop?
No visible drop. We decode the WebP losslessly then re-encode at JPG quality 92.
Can I batch convert?
Yes. Drop multiple WebPs and they are all processed in parallel.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser — your file never leaves your device.
Do you support animated WebPs?
The first frame is exported as JPG. Animated-to-video is on the roadmap.
